“Honoring the game of golf with a creative edge and vintage vibe.”

Our Journey: From Lunch to Launch

Our journey reaches back to college. Fellow art majors turned close buds who would eventually be lucky enough to collaborate in the "real world" as a designer (Charlie) and a photographer (Derrick). Along with being career creatives, we both share a strong passion for two other things; golf & pizza. In early 2020, while grabbing a slice at a local pizza shop and daydreaming of the next time we'd be back out on the course, we started throwing out our typical "what if" collaboration ideas. These stream-of-thought conversations always tend to go a bit astray, with this one being no exception. By the time we hit our crusts, we were in talks to pursue everything from a creative golf brand to taking out a major loan to purchase a driving range. We tabled the range (for now), but this idea of working together to build a creative golf brand that would incorporate our aesthetic carried on well after lunch concluded. Our text thread became consumed with ideas for products, designs and illustrations, and thoughts on growing the game with a welcoming voice in the golf community. From brand development to product research and several back-to-the-drawing-board type moments, it's been a long road full of fun, exciting, and hilariously humbling experiences. Two years later, we are launching Bird Fight and welcoming all to join the flock.

Our Name: Bird Fight

The Bird Fight name is a play on words and a rallying cry representing the mission amongst all golfers — the fight to make birdie. From that common goal comes a bond and camaraderie on the links between best buds and complete strangers that we hope to celebrate through the growth of our brand. It's a battle for the birds out there, and whether you shoot 70 for 18 holes or 9, we welcome you to join the flock.

Our Credo: Live on the Fringe

Live on the Fringe represents the creative edge where the traditions of golf meet the exciting evolution of the game. It's also a reference to that desire to feel like you're always just a club's length away from the course. Whether it's the need to sneak in an emergency 9 after watching coverage of The Masters or practicing your golf swing with a spatula while burning burgers on the grill…the feeling of always being a part of the game should live within you. We want to help celebrate that nostalgia both on and off the course.

To us, it also means an opportunity to push the boundaries of design and aesthetics within the golf space. We believe the game of golf belongs to everyone, and everyone should feel welcome to bring their own identity to the course. We hope our products and community may even help become a bridge to the game for many who feel like they don't fit the typical golf mold. And if you ever get the chance to witness the two of us swing a club, you'll realize that golf is meant for ANYONE to enjoy.

Welcome to the Flock,

–Derrick & Charlie
